Lauren is admitted to the practice of law in the Commonwealth of Virginia and the District of Columbia. Lauren represents commercial and residential landlords in eviction and post-occupancy actions, as well as tenants with regards to lease interpretation and negotiation. Lauren’s litigation practice includes representation of community associations, landlords, individuals, and small businesses in civil and estate litigation.
Prior to joining Compton & Duling, Lauren gained extensive legal experience representing homeowners and condominium associations and she continues to develop that practice. In that capacity, she provides advice regarding daily business operations, contracts, and interpretation of governing documents, she drafts declaration and bylaw amendments and resolutions, she prepares Federal Housing Administration certification applications, and she represents community associations in enforcement of bylaws, declarations, and resolutions in Virginia general district and circuit courts. Lauren has also represented community associations in regards to judicial and non-judicial foreclosures.
Lauren also has experience in employment law, including employee handbooks, application of state and federal laws to independent contractors, and worker classification. In her representation of small businesses and corporations, she has experience in obtaining applicable licenses for operation from the appropriate state agencies.
