JASON HICKMAN

PARTNER

Jason has been a trial litigator for 16 years. He is a licensed attorney and has practiced law in Ohio and Virginia. He has litigated numerous cases, from bench trials to jury trials to appellate arguments, in State and Federal Courts in both Ohio and Virginia--from real estate disputes, to contractual disagreements (contract breaches or interpretations), to personal injury matters (automobile accidents and slip or trip and fall cases). He has represented businesses and individuals in real estate disputes concerning both residential and commercial properties, including landlord and tenant disputes involving leasing issues and evictions. He has litigated matters, both through the administrative processes and through courts, concerning adverse possession, easements, condemnation or eminent domain, traffic signal analysis, proffer issues or interpretations, code enforcement compliance issues or violations, zoning interpretations, special use permits, non-conforming uses, boundary line adjustments, access issues, real estate tax assessment appeals, and numerous other real property issues. He has served as an attorney for clients in disputes concerning businesses, from corporate structure (C or S Corporations and Limited Liability Companies), to shareholder actions, to membership disagreements, to contractual disputes and interpretations. Jason has represented several homeowner associations and condominium associations relative to enforcement of bylaws, declarations, resolutions and covenants. Jason has been involved in alternative dispute resolutions, including arbitrations and mediations, of cases in addition to trying cases. Jason’s goal is to offer a client the opportunity to make informed, cost-sensitive decisions about every issue presented to him/her/it. His theory is that open and honest communications with clients allows those clients to better understand their options and to make informed business decisions.
