Family law encompasses all aspects of the family relationship, from financial arrangements prior to marriage, to financial and other arrangements at the end of a marriage. 

Compton and Duling assists its clients in laying out financial and other expectations at the start of a marriage in a premarital or prenuptial agreement.  One of the happiest tasks of the family law practitioner is to petition for the adoption of a child.  Compton and Duling can also assist when the difficult step of divorce must be taken.  We represent clients in both Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Courts and Circuit Courts in obtaining custody and support orders, restraining orders if necessary, and with enforcing those orders.  The firm can negotiate and draft a property settlement agreement.  If settlement is not possible we advocate for our clients at an equitable distribution hearing in order to divide the marital assets.

The firm also represents victims of crimes within the family, as well as those accused of such crimes.
