Compton & Duling’s litigators place a strong emphasis upon understanding the client’s unique needs and circumstances with an emphasis on addressing immediate issues and the long-term planning. We approach each issue by analyzing all aspects of the client’s situation, proposing multiple alternatives to addressing the situation, and aggressively pursuing those alternatives to obtain the satisfaction that the client is seeking. We employ this thorough and successful approach to litigation in several primary areas of litigation:

• Commercial litigation, including contractual disputes and conflicts arising from financial, fiduciary and business arrangements between individuals and entities.   
• Real estate litigation, including conflicts arising from the development, use and transfer of property and interests in property; and the presentation of claims and defense of property owners’ rights before administrative agencies and court.
• Personal injury litigation, including representing clients involved in automobile accidents, slip and fall accidents, and other accidents involving the negligence of persons or entities.
• Divorce or Family Law litigation, including child custody, child and spousal support, and equitable distribution of assets.
• Elder law and trust and estate litigation.

We achieve positive outcomes for our clients either through negotiated settlements or by representing our clients in State and Federal Courts. Examples of these successfully resolved disputed include:

• On behalf of a local property owner, we went first to the zoning board of appeals and then to the courts to reverse an onerous interpretation of a new zoning regulation.  This successful reversal saved our client from otherwise having to convert their property to a completely new and un-contemplated use.
• On behalf of a bereaved husband, we negotiated a wrongful death settlement following his wife’s demise in a motor vehicle accident caused by a negligent driver in a corporate vehicle.
• We routinely represent commercial landlords in obtaining possession of properties in default and in obtaining financial relief after obtaining possession of the property.
