Maryse C. Allen Elected Virginia State Bar Council Representative

Attorneys of the 31st Judicial Circuit recently elected Maryse C. Allen to a three year term as Virginia State Bar Council Representative for the 31st Judicial Circuit, Prince William County, City of Manassas and Manassas Park.  Allen is a partner at Compton & Duling, L.C., and heads the firm’s family law practice group.

The Council is the Virginia State Bar’s governing body, comprised of 81 attorneys having general charge over the administration of the Virginia State Bar.  “I am honored and humbled by the responsibility granted to me by my colleagues at the bar.  The work of the Council has an important and direct impact on the legal profession and the public,” Allen said.

Allen graduated from the University of Virginia, cum laude, in 1982, and in 1985 she obtained her law degree from the University of Richmond’s T.C. Williams School of Law.  She is a past President of the Virginia Women Attorneys Association (VWAA), a statewide bar association of approximately 500 members.

Allen currently serves on the State Board of the VWAA, on the Virginia State Bar Standing Committee on Professionalism and as a conciliator in the Prince William Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court.  She is also a frequent speaker at National Business Institute continuing legal education courses on family law and ethics, a Fellow of the American Bar Association Foundation, a member of the Prince William Chamber of Commerce and the Virginia Trial Attorneys Association.
