Wills for Veterans CLE

Compton &  Duling’s Tim Aiken will be teaching a continuing legal education (CLE) seminar on September 21, 2017 for the Prince William County Bar Association called Wills for Veterans.  The Wills for Veterans Program is organized by the Pro Bono Committee of the Prince William County Bar Association to provide free Wills, Advance Medical Directives and Powers of Attorney for local veterans of U.S. military service. This CLE is mandatory for all attorneys who wish to volunteer for the Wills for Veterans program.  The CLE will provide a refresher on basic estate and trust laws, and information on how to prepare simple Wills, Advanced Medical Directives and Powers of Attorney, and provide sample forms for use in this program.

In the Wills for Veterans program, volunteer attorneys from Prince William County meet with a Veteran for an hour on a Saturday in early October. The attorney will then prepare the documents on their own at their home or office. The attorney will then bring the completed documents to review and sign with the Veteran on another Saturday in late October.

If you would like to know more about the Wills for Veterans program, or would like to ask a question about your own estate plan, contact Tim Aiken at (703) 565-5121 or at tpa@comptonduling.com.
